North Carolina History: Creation and Development of the State
Bio: My name is Mr. Noland and I will be the Social Studies instructor for the 8th grade Innovator team. I am looking forward to a successful, productive, and exciting year as we trace North Carolina's roots from the arrival of early Native Americans to present day North Carolina and it's role in the global community. I have been certified in Language Arts and Social Studies for ten years. I served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Reserves for ten years while achieving my bachelor's degree in U.S. History at the University of Alabama. This is my 6th year of employment with Winston- Salem Forsyth County Schools.

Grading Policy: Test = 40% Classwork = 30% Quiz = 20% Homework = 10%
September 12 - 16
Monday: Lesson on Primary and Secondary Resources. Students will classify different resources as secondary or primary.
Tuesday: Review of Chapter 1
Wednesday: Chapter 1 Assessment: Setting the Scene
Thursday: Introduction to Chapter 2: Cultures Meet. Student Content Maps, Activators
Friday: Career Start Lesson: Touring the old North State
