A home language survey is administered to every student at the time of enrollment.  If any of the answers indicate that a language other than English is spoken in the home, the student needs to go to the Newcomer Center and take an English Language Proficiency Test.

This test will determine whether new students qualify for services in the English as a Second Language Program (ESL) in the schools.

Todos los estudiantes que se inscriban en las escuelas necesitan llenar un cuestionario del idioma que se habla en la casa. Si cualquiera de las preguntas indica que se habla otro idioma diferente del inglés, el estudiante tiene que ir al Centro de Matrícula, en donde tomará una prueba de conocimiento del idioma inglés.

Esta prueba determinará si el estudiante califica para los servicios del programa del Inglés como Segundo Idioma (ESL) en las escuelas.

The Newcomer Registration Center is the point of entry into Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for new students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
