  3. Keep all distractions out of the learning environment.
  4. Protect our learning time; stay on task.
  5. Follow CHAMPs guidelines for all activities as well as all rules in school handbook.

If a student breaks on of the rules, a demerit is recorded and affects the report card conduct grade.  Isolation and silent lunch may also be used as deterrents.  Parents and students should check the school handbook for behaviors requiring immediate office referral.

In my class:
  • Participation and engagement with daily activities is essential for content acquisition. It is my expectation that all students participate in an active manner whether we are working in groups or in whole class activities. I am not the teacher who will only call on students who raise their hand.  If you are in my class you can expect to be called on.
  • All students need to have a signed copy of the laboratory safety contract on file with Ms. Newton prior to being allowed to participate in laboratory exercises. This is to help ensure all student's safety during all labs. This document will be sent home with all students during the first week of school.  If I do not have a signed copy, the student will be required to do a written activity instead of participating in the lab.  The students lab grade will suffer by not participating in labs.
  • In my class we will respect everyone's feelings, property, and ideas. We will create an environment where all students feel comfortable talking and participating every day.
