Big 6 is a research program that gives students a general outline to perform research in any subject area. Whether they are writing a research paper for English, solving a math problem, investigating science experiments, or simply completing a work of art, Big 6 will allow students to complete any assignment based on one research method. Math Classes are using Big 6 as a problem solving guide. Teachers in all grades will recieve training over the year. The elements of Big 6 allow students to outline their problem with possible solutions before they actually begin the research. The process begins with restating the problem in a way that the student understands what is being asked of them. The next step is to find a variety of sources for information and the third step is to locate the best ones. Use the information and formulate the solution to the problem is the fourth and fifth steps. The final step is to evaluate the product and make corrections. Students can use these six steps in any class they are taking. The steps are just good skills needed for all types of problems, whether they are academic or personal. Ms. Curtis, media coordinator, is a wealth of knowledge and has been a great help to teachers as they take on this endeavor. |
