Greetings, please allow me to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised is a small Connecticut town called Coventry, the home of Nathan Hale. Coventry is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Hartford and 10 miles south of the University of Connecticut, the home of the UCONN Huskies. I have always had a very adventurous nature. My adventures have taken me off to explore Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Holland, Austria, England and Canada. In 1971 I married John Parker, an enlisted Sergeant in the United States Air Force, we were stationed on the island of Guam, visiting the Philippians and Japan; our US assignments include TX and FL. We have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. I am a graduate of Okaloosa Walton Jr. College and the University of West Florida; where my major course of studies was Elementary Education with a specialty in Early Childhood. I was recognized as an Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Early childhood Education, graduating Summa Cum Laude. My previous teaching experience consists of: 12 years - Port Malabar Elementary School in Melbourne, FL Honor ~ TOY 1994 5 years - Longwood Elementary School in Fort Pierce, FL Honor ~ TOY 2003 5 years - St. Lucie Elementary School in Fort Pierce, FL Honor ~ TOY 2007 5 years - Mineral Springs Elementary ~ Instructional Coach TOY ~ Teacher of the Year Award
Outside the school setting I have also served children and adults as part of the USAF Chapel Service during my husband's activity duty years. There I taught Sunday School, choir member, voting parish council member and served as Superintendent of Sunday School at Patrick Air Force Base. After leaving the Chapel Service I continued to teach Sunday School in our home church and started a puppet ministry with my daughters. I also continued as a choir member and became the Director of Christian Education. I've spent the last 22 years living on islands off the coast of Florida. My oldest daughter, husband, and grandchildren, moved to North Carolina in 2004. "Home is where the Heart is". . . so I too have now moved to North Carolina. Here I look forward to serving the needs of our greatest gifts, our children. |
