Excellence in Teaching
We are very proud to have so many award winning teachers in WS/FCS!

Each year world language teachers are chosen as Teachers of the Year at their schools.  In 2012-13, Stacie Taylor, Spanish teacher at Carver HS and Maria Cook, Spanish teacher at Northwest MS, have been named Teacher of the year at their schools.  Congratulations to Ms. Taylor and Ms. Cook!

Several foreign language teachers were named Teacher of the Year for their school in 2009-10. Leah O'Neal, Spanish teacher at Whitaker Elementary, Nancy Dale, French teacher at Union Cross Elementary, Maria Cook, Spanish teacher at Northwest Middle, Yu'Vonne James, Spanish teacher at Hanes Middle, and Wendy Pfeiffer-Quaile, German teacher at Parkland High all received this honor!

There are several National Board certified foreign language teachers in WS/FCS. Michelle Bennett, Spanish teacher at Regan HS, Kim Whiteman, Spanish teacher at Mt. Tabor HS, and Danetta Genung, Latin teacher at Reagan HS, have earned National Board Certification. What a great accomplishment!

Three teachers recieved Kay Chemical Ecolab Visions for Learning grants in 2008. Cathy Musci, Spanish and French teacher at Kernersville Middle, Amy Talley, Spanish teacher at Ashley Elementary, and Blanca Oliver, Spanish Teacher at South Fork Elementary applied for and received these grants. Mrs. Musci used her funds to purchase a document camera and lcd projector for her classroom. Sra. Talley used her funds for science and math materials for her Spanish classes, and Sra. Oliver used the funds to publish a book she wrote for her students to help them learn and practice their Spanish.

Brigitte Woloszyn was the 2006 Duden Award winner. This is a national award given by the American Association of German Teachers (AATG) for excellence in German instruction. Brigitte is the German teacher at Reynolds High and the Career Center.

Congratulations to these exceptional Foreign Language teachers!
