Ryanne Cannady
Guidance Counselor, P-S
(336) 771-4505, ext. 7
Welcome to Miss Cannady's Homepage
I am the guidance counselor for all students whose last names begin with the letter P through the letter S. I am available to assist with any personal problems, scheduling issues, or assistance with making post-secondary plans. If you will go to the Document Manager, you will find the document entitled "Post-Secondary Information," which was given to all seniors. It describes everything that a senior would need to know to make college plans this year. It describes how to apply to college, where to access applications, SAT and ACT dates and registration deadlines, and how to request a transcript. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Scholarship Information
I am also the Scholarship Chairperson. All scholarships that we have information on are available online through the Guidance webpage under "Senior Information" and by clicking on the link labeled "GHS Scholarship Newsletter and Awards Day 2013." This is an up-to-date listing of all available scholarships. Hard copies of this same newsletter are available in the Guidance office. If you are interested in applying for any, please ask me for applications. I also strongly recommend visiting the following links: Preparing for Scholarships, Suggestions for Scholarship Seekers.
**FAFSA Day is Saturday, February 23rd**
FAFSA Day is a program offered by College Foundation of North Carolina, the North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and the State Employees' Credit Union each February. On FAFSA Day, college financial aid officers and other volunteers will help students and parents complete the the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms. The program is open to students who plan to attend college in the 2013-14 academic year. There will be two sites in Forsyth County: Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC) and Winston-Salem State University (WSSU). Many Credit Unions are serving as hosts for FAFSA day, as well. Please visit
www.CFNC.org to register.
Parents and students: Please do NOT attend any workshops/seminars that invite you to pay for assistance in completing the FAFSA!!
