Info about myself and my Classroom Expectations below:

Greetings, my name is Will Sutphin (Mr. S) and I am a 7th year teacher. I have taught in a traditional school, at C.I.P., and here at Main Street for the past three years. In 2005 I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in History, Secondary Education. I am currently getting my master's degree from Gardner-Webb University. I enjoy both teaching History and building appropriate relationships with my students. My leadership style is a combo of the following; being direct, consistent, and small attempts at (polite) humor. I run my class in a hands on style, and circulate around the room to check participation, and levels of understanding. If students stay seated, cooperate with instructions given, and do not distract the learning of others we should (theoretically) get along famously.

Students are expected to follow school and classroom rule. My class rule is simple, be respectful. I have a giant bulletin board in my room with respect defined in terms of "what is" and "what is not" respectful in the classroom environment. I expect my students to be present (physically and mentally), prepared, polite, respectful, and positive. Students receive grades based on the following: 75% on projects, classwork, and Tests/ 25% participation in class.
