**Traffic Safety**

Here at Clemmons Middle we believe in safety for your child and everyone else. Please keep these rules in mind regarding traffic safety when on our campus.

 
** WE MAINTAIN ONE-WAY OF TRAFFIC THAT ENTERS THE PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF WARD ELEMENTARY AND LOOPS ITS WAY AROUND TO CLEMMONS MIDDLE. IN OTHER WORDS YOU MUST ENTER AND PASS BY WARD ELEMENTARY TO GET TO CLEMMONS MIDDLE SCHOOL. BE CAREFUL NOT MISS THE ENTRANCE OR OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE DRIVING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SIGNS AND TRAFFIC ARROWS WHICH DIRECT YOU WHERE TO GO. OFTEN TIMES TRAFFIC WILL GET BACKED UP ONTO THE ENTRANCE ROAD. PLEASE ASSIST US IN MOVING TRAFFIC SMOOTHLY BY ABIDING BY THE ONE LANE OF TRAFFIC GOING IN THE SAME DIRECTION**

**DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILD OFF ON THE ENTRANCE ROAD OR TRAFFIC CIRCLE AT FRATERNITY CHURCH/HOPE CHURCH ROADS AND EXPECT THEM TO WALK ALONG THE ROAD TO THE SCHOOL IN ORDER TO AVOID WAITING IN LINE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE STUDENTS**

**DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT AND WALK/RUN ACROSS TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO AVOID BEING TARDY AS THIS IS ANOTHER SAFETY CONCERN**
 
**STUDENTS ARE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AT THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF THE SCHOOL ONLY**
 
**DO NOT TRESPASS BY USING THE WARD ELEMENTARY SERVICE ROAD IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID TRAFFIC BY DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD AT THE REAR OF WARD ELEMENTARY THEN EXPECTING THEM TO WALK ACROSS TO CLEMMONS MIDDLE. THIS ROAD IS USED FOR BUSES AND WARD FACULTY ONLY. CLEMMONS MIDDLE STUDENTS ARE TO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE FRONT ENTRANCE OF CLEMMONS MIDDLE ONLY. STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON WARD ELEMENTARY PROPERTY AT ANY TIME**
 
**DO NOT PARK ILLEGALLY IN OR BLOCK ACCESS TO HANDICAPPED DESIGNATED SPOTS** 
 
**YOU MAY DROP YOUR CHILD OFF AS EARLY AS 6:45. THEY MUST PROCEED TO THE CAFETERIA WHERE THEY WILL REMAIN UNTIL 7:00. THEY NEED TO ENTER THE CAFETERIA FROM THE CAFETERIA EXTERIOR DOOR**

Arrival:

Traffic is heavy between 7:00-7:25. We can only move as fast as the children are exiting the vehicles.

o Pay attention to and obey the attendants and crossing guards.

o Pull up as far as possible so that we can keep the traffic moving smoothly.

o Be prepared to exit with your belongings before the vehicle comes to a stop.

o Exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.

o Do not pass other vehicles if they are waiting in line.

o DO NOT DRIVE THE WRONG WAY THROUGH THE TRAFFIC CIRCLE BY THE FRONT 
ENTRANCE AND/OR PARKING LOT AS DIRECTED BY THE SIGNS AND ARROWS ON THE ROADWAY.

Dismissal:

In the afternoons the line for pickup normally starts around 1:30. By 1:45 the traffic is already backed up to Ward Elementary.

o Pay attention to and obey the attendants and crossing guards.

o Pull up as far as possible so that we can keep the traffic moving smoothly.

o Remind your child to be ready to enter the vehicle once you have come to a stop, this allows the line to move faster.

o Enter on the passenger side of the vehicle.

o Do not pass other vehicles if they are waiting in line.

o DO NOT DRIVE THE WRONG WAY THROUGH THE TRAFFIC CIRCLE BY THE FRONT 
ENTRANCE AND/OR PARKING LOT AS DIRECTED BY THE SIGNS AND ARROWS ON THE ROADWAY.

**IF YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO BE PICKED UP PRIOR TO DISMISSAL PLEASE NOTIFY THE SCHOOL BEFOREHAND TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS KEEPING IN MIND THE TRAFFIC CONGESTION**

 

Bus Lot:

** DO NOT DRIVE ONTO THE BUS LOT INCLUDING THE SERVICE ROAD/REAR GATE NEAR HOPE CHURCH RD. THIS ROAD IS FOR BUSES AND FACULTY USE ONLY. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS**

A few other brief reminders...

o Once on campus report to the main office.

o Sign in on the visitor sign in sheet and get the proper ID. Please display the ID on you at all times while in the building. This will help us with assisting you while here on this campus.

o Please do not be offended if we ask to see your visitor ID while in the building, we may not always recognize you at first.
