Counting - Chairs around the dining table
- Bedrooms in house
- People in family
- Restaurants you pass while driving
- Verbally and consecutively count to 10 as you pass each number on the road. The first one to 10 wins.
- You see how this goes, come up with your own.
Reading - Label things in your house include yourself for fun. As you spot a label, say the name of the object.
- Spell the objects name.
- Identify the object by name by touching it.
- Read signs as you pass by them driving or walking.
- Verbally and consecutively go from A to Z while you are driving. The first one to reach Z wins.
- You see how this goes, come up with your own.
Cleaning - Set a timer for x minutes to work on washing dishes, vacuuming or any chore.
- Clock how fast it takes to do a chore like picking up and putting away toys or dirty laundry.
Scheduling - Set a timer to do homework, break, homework, break, etc.
- Note: breaks are not longer than homework sessions.
- This works well with students that do not sit well.
- Remember, when the timer goes off, all work stops or break stops.
- Follow until all work is complete.
- If your student cannot complete work, talk to the teacher for modified assignments.
- Scheduling of the day can include one activity up to getting up and dressed to going to bed.
- Words or words with pictures or pictures or objects can be used.
