International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme

Ashley IB Elementary Magnet school was authorized by the International Baccalaureate in February 2006 and continues to reflect on and improve upon their Programme of Inquiry to meet the rigorous requirements of the Primary Years Programme.  

At Ashley IB, teachers integrate the educational research, practice, knowledge, and experience of international schools with the Common Core State Standards and the North Carolina Essential Standards. The result is a relevant, engaging, accelerated, and creative educational program that is focused on inquiry-based learning.

Using an inquiry-based approach to learning encourages students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers who are engaged in their learning. Students learn how to ask questions and pursue answers about topics that will broaden their global understanding and enable them to relate to people all over the world.
