General Information about Summer Reading at Mt. Tabor

· Students can come by the main office of Mt. Tabor during the summer months, starting June 12th to check out a copy of their book. We recommend that you purchase your own book if possible so that you can write in it, but we do have most titles available for checkout. Texts can be checked out from June 1-11th in room 104.

·   For students in the fall semester , the book is due September 9th, 2013. A test on the book will be given on this day. A project on the book with a separate due date will be assigned by your teacher once you enter the class in the fall.

  • For students in the spring semester, you can opt to take the test early on the afternoon of Sept. 9th if you sign up in the fall. Otherwise, you will take the test on your book on the spring due date of February 4, 2014.  A project on the book with separate due date will be assigned by your teacher once you enter the class in the spring.
All standard, honors, and seminar students are required to annotate each chapter of their novel by summarizing main events at the end of the chapter on a sticky note. See the Annotation Guide below.

Since you will not know when you are taking the class until you get your schedule in August, plan as if you were taking the class in the fall, which is how the suggested reading schedule is organized.  You can take the test in the fall, even if you have the class in the spring. As you read, you are required to be summarizing the main events of each chapter. Write your summary on sticky notes and place them at the end of each chapter, sticking slightly out of the book so that they are easy to find. If you want to do more annotations in your novel, refer to the instructions for effective annotation on the Mt. Tabor School Website.
