9th Grade Requirements

General Requirements for Summer Reading:

Students can come by the main office of Mount Tabor during the summer months to check out a copy of their book. We recommend that you purchase your own book if possible so that you can write in it, but we do have most titles available for checkout.

For students in the fall semester , the book is due September 9th, 2014. A test on the book will be given on this day. You will also have a study guide to complete on the book, which will also be due on September 9th. You can download the study guide below. You will also be participating in a seminar on the book in class, for which your teacher will provide instructions.

For students in the spring semester, you can opt to take the test early on the afternoon of Sept. 9th if you sign up in the fall. Otherwise, you will take the test on your book on the spring due date of February 4, 2015.  Your study guide will not be due until the spring due date of February 4th.

All standard, honors, and seminar students are required to complete the study guide for their book (available below). It MUST be typed (you can download the form and type in it), printed, and uploaded to Turnitin.com by the due date of the semester in which you are taking the class.

Since you will not know when you are taking the class until you get your schedule in August, plan as if you were taking the class in the fall, which is how the suggested reading schedule on the study guide is organized.  You can take the test in the fall, even if you have the class in the spring. As you read, you should be taking notes on the main characters and events in the book, as well as identifying vocabulary words that are unfamiliar.
