ASSESSMENT: grading
I assess using the total points method. Each item is assigned a point value and then you divide the total points by the total points earned to arrive at the average.

Bathroom Pass Extra Credit for Regular classes

Students  who do not use their bathroom passes each quarter are awarded one point on their quarter average.

Example: If student above did not go to the bathroom (+3) quarter grade would be 90%; went one time (+2) grade would be 89%; went to the bathroom twice (+1) grade would be 88%; went to the bathroom three times, no points added.

Honors Classes Recieve Points into their Total Points Earned.

Homework Policy

1.            Homework (Simple assignments that are due the next day) is not accepted late. This is usually anything 20 points and under.

2.            Projects/Papers (Complex assignments that are completed over the course of 2 or more days) can be turned in up to 5 days late. Each day the assignment is late, students lose a letter grade.

*Day of Amnesty*

The day after progress reports/NC Wise update days is Ms. Carmichael’s “day of amnesty” meaning students may turn in missing assignments from that quarter only for reduced credit. Students cannot receive higher than a 70% on the assignment, but a 70% is 70% more than a 0%. Students receive 2 amnesty days per quarter.  Late work is not accepted before or after these days.
