| Happy New Year! |
Welcome to 2013! There are so many exciting events happening in the next few months at Jefferson Elementary! We hope you can make your family’s experience here richer and more rewarding by getting involved in them. Please remember to thank your child’s teacher and all of our staff on Staff Appreciation Day, on Feb. 13th. The PTA serves a catered luncheon that day for all staff. While delicious foods and desserts are terrific, teachers and staff truly cherish hearing thank you and feeling appreciated. If possible, please help your room representative with your class’ efforts on this day. Also in February, are the talent show, and Jump Rope for Heart. You will not want to miss our Silent Auction on March 22nd at The Last Resort! Come to socialize with Jefferson parents, teachers and staff while bidding on awesome items, such as camps, gifts, restaurants, vacations and more. The fun will also feature music and delicious food. The annual JES Carnival will be on April 26th! It promises creative classroom baskets, exciting rides and fun attractions. Activities will wrap up in the spring with field days, class picnics and 5th grade graduation. Whew! In May, the PTA is looking forward to installing a new slate of officers. We need leaders and volunteers with energy and ideas to keep bringing the same high caliber of events we are used to having here at JES. Just a few hours of your time can go a long way. If you’re interested in helping out or have some questions, there are lots of places to go for answers—attend a PTA general or board meeting, check out the website and lobby bulletin board, watch Tuesday e-mails, or ask a teacher or current PTA member for info. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the school’s Invest in A Child campaign. Although donations are down this year, we are still chipping away at our goal of bringing 21st century technology to every classroom. We are SO close—only 6 classrooms left to outfit with a Promethian board! The PTA just purchased new PC’s to support existing interactive boards and all 5th grade classrooms got new laptop carts from the school district. The Invest In A Child campaign is still in full swing! The PTA welcomes tax free donations at any time and promises to keep working hard to accomplish our school wide goals. With the generous help from our JES families— whether it is with checkbooks, time, or both—we are making great things happen for our children. Thank you to everyone for your continued support! It’s greatly appreciated! Paws Up! Julia Smull 2012-13 PTA President | ||
