|Athletic Boosters Meeting: The Athletic Boosters will hold an organizational meeting at 6:00 p.m. on April 17 in the school auditorium. This will be followed by a brief meeting on Mobile Learning Communities (the "Bring Your Own Device" policy), also in the auditorium. Then there will be organizational meetings for all fall sports - football, volleyball, cross country, boys soccer, girls tennis, and girls lacrosse.|
Math Team and Emory Finish FIRST
Congratulations to the math team coached by Mr. Goodson who brought home two trophies in Friday's competition at WSSU. Emory Soper won the 1st-place title in the Level 2 division, and our Level 2 team was crowned the first place team, made up of Abi Udaiyar, Emory Soper, Jordyn Jones, Angel Ruiz-Riaño. Art Showcase State Finals
The state finals of the NCASA Art Showcase Competition was hosted here at Atkins this weekend and our school's team coached by Ms. Blakely took away a fifth-place finish amid stiff competition. The contest earned Atkins 35 more points in its race for the Scholastic Cup. Read the complete story on the Caravan News.
Community STEM Fair
Students, please join us for our Community STEM Fair held at Atkins Academic & Technology High School on April 10th from 6-8 pm. Come visit with professionals from colleges and businesses in the area of Science, Technology, and Engineering.
Soccer Team Wins!
The Girls Soccer Team won their first conference match last night 2-1 in Double Overtime vs Walkertown.... Adali Penaloza-Ramirez and Tyler Ziglar picked up the two goals. Lizeth Oliva Fuentes registered the shutout in Goal.
Any student who does not have a wi-fi enabled device that can be used at school when we begin our "Bring Your Own Device" program should stop by Room 521 to see Ms. Rexrode or Ms. Ervin BEFORE spring break.
Raider Team Update
Congratulations to the Atkins JROTC Raider Team for their selection to compete in the Best of the Best Raider Championship Competition at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte on Saturday, April 26, 2014, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend to support the Atkins JROTC Raiders. It is an honor for the Camel Raiders to be selected from over 300 teams.
The Raider Team will also compete in the Winston Salem Forsyth County Raider Competition on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at East Forsyth High School, from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Faculty, staff and student are encouraged to come out and support your Camel Raiders. The bus will depart from Atkins at 7:00am. Students, if you plan to attend the competition, please pickup, complete and return the consent form to classroom 105 not later than Thursday, April 10, 2014. (4-10-14)
Bring Your Own Learning Device
Students and parents will need to sign two forms prior to beginning this program at our school. One is the WS/FCS Acceptable Use Policy, and the other lists the Atkins rules for the program. Students have been given these forms to bring home. If they fail to get the forms home, the WS/FCS Acceptable Use Policy and the Atkins Rules may be downloaded here and returned to the third period teacher.

The Chronicle just named Atkins as the School of the Year! (3-27-14)
Quill Team Finishes Second in State
Congratulations to the Atkins Quill Team. They placed second in a very competitive field. Meredith Hemphill placed first in Argumentative writing. This is her third state title in this area, setting a new state record. (3-27-14)

Student Network/Internet User Agreement and Parent Permission Form
At some point this month students and parents will be asked to sign a new agreement. This will be sent home in a paper copy. A copy of this document may be seen here.
PromThe date is May 3 from 8-12 at the Event Center. The theme is "A night to remember". Colors are purple, blue and black. The cost is $35.00 and can be paid on line or in the guidance office with Ms. Martin. (5-3-14)

It's not too late to be a part of the Chess Club and make the Team that could win this year's state chess championship. All students of any experience level are welcome to attend in Room 529 on Tuesdays from 3:45 - 5:00.
Any student bringing a smart phone, tablet, or laptop to school is strongly encouraged to install a locator app on the device to make it easier to find should it be misplaced.
