Welcome to South Fork Elementary School
South Fork Elementary is a Pre-K through 5th grade school. We have over 550 students attending here. We are very proud of our students here at South Fork. We are a diverse population with students representing 23 different countries. We believe that it takes a firm foundation to build a nation. That foundation for students to be successful learners starts with the parents and is supported and strengthened by the teachers, support staff, and the community.
We support our parents and our students by having programs such as the IMPRINTS before and after school care, community computer class, parent education and support classes, and numerous after school clubs for our students to get involved in. Statistics show that students who are engaged in after school activities are more engaged during school hours. This year we will offer the Knitting Club, the Jumping Jitterbugs, The Songbirds, Dance Club, Handbells, Tennis, and others as interest is shown.
Our students are supported in their academic program by groups such at the St. Augustine Tutors, the Bookworms volunteers, and other parent and corporate volunteers who tutor students who need extra time and attention. We have completed the installation of ACTIV Classrooms where Activ boards are used with instruction. This is updating our school to the 21st Century Technology plan.
Our PTA is growing. Right now we have vacancies for President, Vice President, and Secretary. We need your help to fill these positions. Please contact me at twspencer@wsfcs.k12.nc.us if you are interested in any of these positions for the 2012-2013 school year.
By joining the PTA, volunteering for activities, and attending the PTA meetings, programs, and fundraisers, you will help our students and our school financially and physically. Your presence and support is an easy and important way to help build and support the foundation of our school program.
