|Welcome New Parents to Southwest!|
Fall Festival: The Southwest Fall Festival is the largest PTA event and primary fundraiser! It is also the most anticipated event by the students each year. Each year there is a different theme. Kids, parents and siblings are all welcome for a fun-filled evening of food, games, and prizes. Themed baskets will be raffled off that night. Watch for a request from your child's teacher to make a donation to this basket for the raffle. Pre-order your tickets for the food and games when the PTA sends home the order form so you can start your evening without having to stand in line for tickets. You will also save money with the pre-order.
Book Fair: Each fall and spring a book fair is held in the Media Center. Book fair hours will be sent home with your child and you may come to shop the book fair with your child during those hours. Money spent at the book fair helps to earn books for the Southwest library.
Open House is held on an evening a few days before school begins. This is a time for your child to meet his/her teacher and classmates as well as see the classroom and the rest of the school.
Reflections:Reflections is an opportunity for students to participate in a school wide art contest. Those chosen by the Reflections committee will have their project sent to compete in the State competition.
Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraiser for the American Heart Association that is put on by our gym teachers. The kids gather in the gym to participate in various physical activities and learn about heart healthy lifestyle choices.
Winter and Fall Musicals: These are great events to attend! The Winter Musical features all students in the third grade and the Spring Musical features all students in the first grade. The musicals also showcase our 5th Grade Chorus.
