Reference e-Books
This link brings you to our page of searchable, topic-specific encyclopedias and texts in full text. We currently provide e-books on alternative energy, diseases & disorders, psychology, education, British and American poetry, and Shakespeare. There is no limit to how many students can use them at the same time, so e-Books are great for whole-class research.

And don't forget, the Forsyth County Public Library has some excellent databases that are available to you from the Media Center's computers and from home. Most require only your library card number for access. If you're in the Media Center and don't have your public library card with you, see a staff member.

Databases

The Media Center has a number of useful databases and other tools for your research. These databases require passwords. Handouts with the database passwords are available in the media center. It's a great idea to keep one of these password lists by your home computer--all of these databases are accessible from home as well as from school.

ABC-Clio Databases
The ABC-Clio databases bring together full-text articles, essays, facts and figures, maps, timelines, and other resources which focus on particular time periods or populations.

World History: the Modern Era Covers world history topics from the Rennassaince to today.

The American Indian Experience A digital resource that illuminates the histories and contemporary cultures of the Native peoples of North America.

The African American Experience Developed with the guidance of African American librarians and subject specialists, The African American Experience is the widest ranging and easiest-to-use online database collection on African American history and culture.

The Latino American Experience The Latino American Experience is the latest version of the first-ever database dedicated to the history and culture of Latinos—the largest, fastest growing minority group in the United States.

Ferguson's Career Guidance Center
Find information on thousands of careers--educational requirements, salaries, and more. Also includes a scholarship/fellowship/internship search, helpful articles and videos on career development, sample resumes and cover letters, and more.

Global Issues in Context
Global perspectives on issues of international importance, current world events and topics in the news. Provides access to international newspapers, video and audio content, and interactive statistical reports. Excellent for many subjects, this database will be especially useful for Human Geography, Allied Health, and Foreign Language classes.

Learn360
Learn 360 allows you to search and view full-length videos and video clips from resources such as The History Channel, National Geographic, Biography Channel, PBS, newsreels, and many more. Most of the content can be downloaded and saved to a flash drive or DVD. All the clips include citations and can be great resources to use for your research.

NC Wise Owl
Includes Gale InfoTrac databases (magazine articles in full text and citations), Grolier Online, eBook Center, Lands & People, Popular Science, America the Beautiful, Scribner Writers, and more.
