Kernersville Elementary

Dear Third Graders,

Hello and welcome to Mrs. Prouty’s third grade class at Kernersville Elementary!  I am excited to have you as my student.  I look forward to getting to know you and your family during this fun and productive year. 

I hope you have enjoyed your summer!  I had a wonderful summer enjoying activities such as:  taking a family beach trip, teaching summer school, relaxing by the pool, and enjoyed a trip to NY.  My husband and I moved here from Upstate NY in 2009 and have enjoyed every year since then.  We have a home in Greensboro with our dog Artie and cat Sam.  I graduated from UNCG with my Masters in Education in 2011.  This is my fifth year of teaching in NC and I love my place at KES!

Get ready for a wonderful year of learning using the new Common Core standards.  These Common Core standards are set standards that were established to clearly convey what is expected of students at each grade level nationwide.  What does this mean for North Carolina and its students?  It means I will be preparing my students better for success in college and career paths.  No need to stress!

I hope that you find our classroom and Kernersville Elementary to be warm and friendly places to learn.  I am excited for the first day of school and the opportunity to be your teacher.
