• It is with much regret and disappointment that I announce the official cancelation of the 2020 WS/FCS Hackers and Makers Summer Camp.
With so much uncertainty about the future course and trajectory of the deadly Covid 19 Corona Virus across the country, in our state and local community I have to take this difficult action. While it appears we may be on course to move into Governor Cooper's phased approach to restarting the economy, it is uncertain when we will reach the fully open stage in our community. North Carolina education leaders as well as the WS/FCS leadership team are grappling with how to reopen schools next year. In this time of uncertainty and ever evolving safety measures especially around access and proximity mandates in public school buildings, I cannot effectively plan a large summer camp program. I make this decision with the most conservative and safety-focus for your children, my instructors and staff. I also have to consider the risk of spending your money that you have entrusted me with on camp supplies and equipment with a significant risk that we could have to cancel camp in the future if we do not do it now.
I will begin processing refunds of 100% of any money you have paid. Scholarship funds have been withdrawn. I hope you will see refunds from WS/FCS Hanes Magnet School in the coming weeks. Sorry for the inconvenience. Be certain I share your and your child's disappointment in having to cancel the 2020 WS/FCS Hackers and Makers Summer Camp.
We will be back in 2021. Count on it! And it will be great! Hope to see you then.
