Welcome To Character Education & Biz Kid$ 2016-17

Welcome To Character Education and Biz Kid$ Classes!  My name is Mrs. Turner and I lead classes on Character Education/ Social Skills Development with K-1st Graders and Financial Literacy (Biz Kid$) with 2nd- 5th graders. All KES students receive these classes through the Daily Specials Rotation. While Character Education has been a significant part of KES for many years, 2015-16 marks the 3rd year of our Financial Literacy Program, Biz Kid$, and I am just so excited to be a part of both of these programs.!
    About Me:
I have been in education, on and off since 1996.  I hold a NC Teaching Lisence in Middle Grades Education, and received Elementary Add-On Lisensure in 2010. In 2012, I earned a Masters Degree in School Administration through Gardner-Webb University....Go Bulldogs! I have been a part of the Kernersville Elementary School Family since 2000 and have worn many hats from parent to teacher! I am married to my High School Sweetheart and have 2 sons, Seth and Simon and a little daughter, Stella Grace, who was adopted in 2011, from The Peoples Republic of China. I love Kernersville Elementary School and am honored to be a part of the lives of all the students that attend our special school!

    Character Education/Social Skills:
Developing Character and Social Skills is a big part of the culture of Kernersville Elementary.  Our staff sees each day as a chance for our students to grow, not only academically, but also socially through Character Building!  Kindergarten and 1st Grade students will visit the Character Education/Social Skills Classroom through their Specials Rotation.
Students will learn about being a person of strong character through reading stories, art projects, group activities, songs and games!  The Character Classroom is a fun place to learn!  To learn more about our specific Character Lessons, follow my blog, by clicking on the "Character Corner" Tab at the left hand side of this page.

    Biz Kid$/Financial Literacy:
With recent events that led to an unstable economy, our staff begin asking, "How can we better prepare our students to be successful when they leave us?" Out of this question came the decision to incorporate a Financial Literacy Class at KES. Made possible by a generous donation from The State Employees Credit Union: Kernersville Branch, Biz Kid$, our Financial Literacy Curriculum was secured and steps were taken to launch the class at the start of 2013-14 to all 4th and 5th Graders. Now the program, in it's 4th successful year, is offered to students in grades 2-5 via the Specials Rotation.
