HONORS 3 - PROFICIENT - SYLLABUS

  • HONORS 3 CREDIT IN CHORUS - PROFICIENT

    Each student taking Honors 3 should complete the following activities as set by the Standard Course of Study for Vocal Music by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction.

     

    1. The student must prepare and present a Fall Report and Presentation to class on "Music in History & Culture".  This research project will be about music and its relationship to a music period.  (See paper Rubric for instructions).  This presentation will include a class listening element.  Papers are due by Friday, December 5th 2014.  Presentations will be done in January 2015



    2.  Students must attend 2 approved performances, (1 must be professional) for the school year and write a critique of each performance.  One (1) of these critiques will be due  by the end of the first semester, January 9th 2015 and one (1) will be due before the end of the second semester, May15, 2015.  The critiques must be a full page, (3 or 4 Paragraphs) typed and double spaced.  Critique information should include:


    A.  Attached Program,

    B.  Information about performing group(s)

    C.  Information about music performed

    D.  Your typed critique of the performance

     

     

    Critiques must be submitted to the teacher along with a copy of the concert program.

     
                **HONORS CHORUS STUDENTS MAY NOT USE WEST FORSYTH CHORUS CONCERTS AS A     CRITIQUE SOURCE**

     

     

    3.  All Music History and Theory for Honors 3 will be done within the class period.  The above projects will require time outside of class.
