    Dear Parents,

I am so happy to be back in the classroom!  I had a great time at “camp” as I called it in class.  It was worthwhile and productive and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to go.  I look forward to sharing with my grade level, as well as implementing some of the literacy stations we explored during our language arts block.  I appreciate the 2nd graders’ cooperation and hard work while I was away.

As we approach the end of this first quarter (hard to believe), I wanted to schedule parent conferences to discuss student progress on an individual basis.  Attached please find a sign up sheet for you to request a preferred conference time, or indicate that you do not feel the need to conference at this time.  Please indicate 3 preferences and I will try my best to work out  one of the requested times.

Thanks for your consistent support at home as we continue to build take home reader success, work effectively with an individualized spelling list and contract of activities,  introduce telling time to 5 minute intervals  and participate in end of quarter math assessments.  Reading independently and completing homework responsibly are both keys to success in 2nd grade and beyond!

We have three wonderful grade parent volunteers who will be coordinating some special activities and events for our classroom.  They sent a request for your contact information/e-mail addresses.  Please send those in as soon as possible, if you have not already done so.  Look for volunteer opportunities coming your way soon!
