American History 1 - Honors
Honors courses feature more assignments and longer assignments than standard courses. Students' grades will be determined by test, homework, classwork, and the state test at the end of the year. It must be stated the state test counts for 20% of the Honors American 1 grade final. Students in honors will be required to write free response essays. Examples of the focuses for these essays are Jacksonian Democracy and long-term causes of the Civil War. These are designed to develop honors students' abilities to write essays and prepare them for college history courses.
