American History 2 - Honors
Students will explore, analyze, and evaluate major historical periods in the United States covering the time from post Reconstruction through today’s ever-changing world. Student study will concentrate on historical documents that will deconstruct United States history. Students will evaluate in critical review the impact of social, economic, and political changes reflected through the lens of watershed events, which still impact today. The focus for the students will involve carefully constructed responses that show not only a knowledge of the facts, but complex analytical skills to deepen the students' understanding of history. At the honors level, students will be expected to complete inquiry-based projects that will involve critical research in a variety of topics (e.g. suffrage, war & poverty, etc.). Students will engage in careful discussion and analysis that moves beyond rudimentary knowledge and challenges the student in preparation for college.
