Welcome to the Robotics Site

  • The First Lego League Robotics Team gives students the opportunity to build and code robots while working together to solve real-world problems.  Teams compete in local, regional and national competitions in three different categories:

-Builders and coders work together to create and fully functioning robot that overcomes a series of physical challenges.

-Designers and Problem-solvers create and deliver a presentation on solving a particular world problem.

-All teams are also eligible to receive awards based on how well they fulfill the portray the First Lego League Core Values by exhibiting good sportsmanship and teamwork.

The team begins at the start of the year with try-outs, where applicants get the chance to show their skills in each category. Up to 10 students are selected for each team, with up to 2 teams representing the school, depending on how many students are selected.  Teams meet twice per week to focus on their particular challenge and support other challenges as needed. The teams compete against 24-30 other schools, at Saturday tournaments.

The Flat Rock teams are proud to have taken home trophies in different categories for many years. We are looking forward to another GREAT Robotics season!
