My name is Mr. Vasilos and I am now entering my third year at Atkins. I grew up in Winston Salem and received my bachelor's degree in English from Wake Forest University. Following that, I earned my master's degree in English from UNC-Greensboro.
I am extremely grateful and excited to be teaching at Atkins. The school’s reputation as a leader in diversity and academics is most appealing to me, and I look forward to being able to contribute to the culture of the school. English is one of my great passions in life, and I relish the opportunity to share that with my students. In my classroom, I strive to create a space for open communication and a free exchange of ideas.
While obtaining my undergraduate degree, one of my professors told the class that “it doesn’t matter what you have to say, if you can’t communicate well, no one will hear you.” Clear communication will be a key focus of the school year. We will explore various methods of communication throughout the year to better prepare the students for the future. English is vital in that it can be beneficial in so many fields. I feel very fortunate to have the chance to help guide the students in this regard. Finally, thank you for the opportunity to teach your children and for all the help you provide at home.
