• Grading Policy

    My Expectations:

It is my expectation that you attend all classes, care about your work, make progress in the medium, help and cooperate with your classmates, take risks, and make mistakes. Your grade will be based on the care you bring to your work and the successful completion of each assignment.

The three major areas of grading are projects, sketchbooks/critiques, and participation (which also includes using materials responsibly and clean-up).

    Re-do Policy:

Please talk to me if you would like to re-do a project. By nature of our assignments you will have ample time to complete each project in class. If you are working and feel like you need more time to complete the assignment be prepared to tell me why. If we are going on to the next project you may work on the project at home. (See late policy below.) I do not recommend students take current projects home to work on them because they forget to bring them back the following class time and sit idly during that class-time.

    Late Policy:

You must talk to me to ask for extension BEFORE the work is due. If you work hard and are focused but still need more time to complete the work, I will be happy to give you an extension. When we talk, we will set a new due date.

    Absences:

    1. If you are absent 1 day between the days the work is assigned and the work is due, you have an extension of 1 day.

    2. If you are absent for 2 days between the days the work is assigned and the work is due, you have an extension of 2 days.

    3. If you are absent for more than two days between the days the work is assigned and the work is due, you must talk to me to work out a make-up plan.

If you do not get extension through any of the above scenarios, points will be deducted for late works as follows:

    1. 20% deduction on all late work.
