The Symphonic Band at North is the composed of the top musicians in the North Forsyth Band Program. This group is an auditioned group that plays many concerts throughout the year. The Symphonic Band also performs at North Carolina Music Performance Adjudication (MPA). Members in this group are expected to practice on daily basis and come to every rehearsal ready to perform at the highest level.
The Concert Band at North is the entry level performance group at North Forsyth. Players in this group are often younger students who are still refining the fundamentals of playing an instrument or older students learning a second instrument. This group will also perform on multiple concerts throughout the school year.
The Jazz Ensemble at North is a year round curricular class that meets every other day for an hour and a half. This ensemble performs on multiple concerts throughout the year as well as at community events and retirement homes. The North Jazz Ensemble performs annually at both the City of the Arts Jazz Festival and the North Carolina Jazz Music Performance Adjudication for ratings.
The most visible band at North, the Marching Vikings are a voluntary group that meets for 2 days after school for rehearsal, performs at all home and away football games, contests, parades, and other events.
The Percussion Ensemble at North is a year round class that focuses on the performance of Chamber Percussion Literature.
