    Dental Hygienist  (Healthcare Professional Pathway)

    Dental Hygienists clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. May educate patients on oral hygiene, take and develop x rays, or apply fluoride or sealants.

     On the job, Dental Hygienists would:

    • Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments.
    • Record and review patient medical histories.
    • Examine gums, using probes, to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.

    Automotive Technician  (Automotive Services Pathway)

    Automotive Technicians are trained in all areas of automotive services including brakes, electrical, steering, suspension, heating and air, transmission and many others. 

    On the job, Automotive Technicians would:

    • Inspect vehicles for damage or necessary repairs
    • Record findings so that the necessary repairs can be made 
    • Estimate cost of repairs including parts and labor required 
    • Complete repairs or authorize another technician to perform repairs

    Accountant  (Accounting Pathway)

    Accountants analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain financial records for individuals or companies. 

    On the job, Accountants would:

    • Develop, analyze and maintain budgets
    • Prepare financial reports 
    • Review reports for accuracy and resolve any discrepancies

    Chefs and cooks direct and participate in the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of salads, soups, vegtables, fish, meats, desserts or other foods.  Chefs and cooks may also plan and price menu items, order supplies, and keep records and accounts. 

    On the job, Chefs or cooks would:

    • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations
    • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
    • Estimate amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients

    Civil Engineer  (STEM) 

    Perform engineering duties in planning, designing and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities such as roads, airports, bridges, railroads, channels, pipelines, wtater/sewer system and power plants.

    On the job, Civil Engineers would: 

    • Inspect projext sites to monitor progress and ensure design specifications, safety and sanitation standards
    • Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, material stress factors to determine design specifications
    • Provide technical advice to industrial and managerial personnel regarding design, construction, modifications and repairs

    • Administer first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to injured persons

    Administer, test and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems.

    • Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes

    The WS/FCS Virtual Career and College Fair premiered on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 but is still active for students to view during the 2023-2024 school year.

    Students heard from various business representatives about career pathway opportunities in the Piedmont Triad and surrounding areas.  College and university representatives provided information about the admissions process and academic programs offered.  There was also military branch information and additional career related resources for writing resumes, preparing for college, applying for a scholarship or preparing for a job interview, and helping to find the right career pathway for the undecided student.  Take some time to explore the virtual career and college fair by clicking on the link below.
