• Book Donations and Gifts

MSES uses the guidelines below when receiving donations and gifts:

    Books must be age appropriate.
Books must be in good condition.
We are not equipped to give receipts to donors for income tax purposes.
We reserve the right to use books in the way we deem best for the school. This means that your donation could be placed in our collection or in classrooms but it could also be used as a prize or passed along to another school or organization.
We accept monetary donations which we will use to purchase needed resources for our collection. Checks can be made out to Mineral Springs Elementary School.
Donors who are interested in buying new books for our collection should check with the Media Center staff for suggestions before making a purchase.

    Our MSES Library Collection Policy

Throughout each school year the school librarian/media coordinator will remove heavily damaged materials and aged materials from the collection as materials are checked in and out.  Records of these removed titles will be kept in order to consider and research possible replacements of the same or updated materials.

At least once a year, the school librarian/media coordinator will run a Follett Library Resources collection analysis to thoroughly examine the collection which will result in deep weeding of outdated, extraneous, and/or damaged materials. This analysis will also be used to purchase current materials in needed subject areas.  Anecdotal records, student and teacher recommendations, and check-out statistics will be used also to purchase fiction and nonfiction materials.
