• Dec. 6, 2023 Update:
    • Students who arrive at school on Friday with their projects can take them straight to the Media Center. Ms. Jacober will be there to receive them, and each grade level will have a designated area.
    • Students who brought their projects in before Friday will be asked to bring them down after morning announcements.
    • There are classes in the Media Center starting around 9:00 so we are trying to have all projects set up in the designated locations by then.
    • Judges will be here the following week.
    • Winners will be announced next Thursday during morning announcements.
    • Projects can be taken home next Thursday or Friday.

Speas Global's Science Fair Projects are due on Friday, December 8th, 2023.

Each year, WS/FCS students come together to share personal interests in science and technology. Students may choose to apply their knowledge of science and technology to the world around them by conducting research in the form of a science fair project.

On Friday, December 8th, Speas Global will host a school-wide science fair and select qualifying projects to advance to the WS/FCS District Science Fair. 5TH GRADE STUDENTS CONTACT YOUR TEACHER TO SEE IF YOU ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A PROJECT THIS YEAR. We also encourage participation from all K-4 students. Students may work alone or in small groups with 1 or 2 friends.

Please remember that the science fair is not a demonstration or collection. While baking soda volcanoes are really fun to make, it is not a science fair project. Neither a solar system model nor rock collection are an experiment. You need to conduct an experiment to find the answer to a question/problem. The “Scientific Method” will take you through the correct process of asking a question, doing some preliminary research, making a hypothesis, conducting your experiment, and analyzing your results with words and graphing your results. Projects are judged in two groups: K-2nd and 3rd-5th.
