• What is an Athletic Trainer?

    Athletic Trainers are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who work with physicians o provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic Trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state laws. Athletic Trainers are certified by a national board and licensed by the state and obey the laws of the national board and the state.

    Athletic trainers are often confused with personal trainers, however there is a large difference in the education, skill set, job duties and patients of athletic trainers and personal trainers. The athletic training curriculum and clinical training follows the medical model. Athletic trainers must graduate from an accredited baccalaureate or master's program. They must also pass a national certifying exam and meet licensing requirements in most states.
