Summary: PTSA Advocacy chairs are responsible for demonstrating leadership on children’s issues at the local level by educating PTSA members, community members, and elected officials about PTSA's issues of concern and legislative priorities and goals.
    Time Commitment: Meetings; (approx. 3 hours per month).
    Duration: 1 year term; year-round commitment.
    Important Dates: PTSA meetings - Every second Monday of the month from August through May of the current school year from 5:30 p.m. to approximately 6:30 p.m. Additional meetings, events, and activities deemed appropriate by the association.
    Accountable To: PTSA President

    Share with PTSA members about issues affecting the school and community as well as legislative activities at all levels of government. Circulate materials from council, district, State, and National PTA when available.

    Attend and encourage PTSA members to attend legislative meetings, forums and school board meetings.

    Maintain current contact information for all elected representatives in your area: U.S. Senators, U.S. Congress member, State Senator, State Assembly member, Board of Supervisors members, city council members, and school board members.

    July: Attend workshops offered by council or district PTA.
    August: Orientation and Open House.
    September: First General PTSA meeting.
    December: Second General PTSA meeting.
    May: Third General PTSA meeting.
    June: Transition Meeting.
