Cardinal Update Sept. 9Posted by Shelia Burnette on 9/8/2019 7:00:00 PM
Greetings Cardinal Nation,
This is Dr. Burnette with this week's announcements. Motivational Monday will be a wear Blue Day to celebrate being a blue school. What does that mean? It means that we are proud to not only have met expected growth for 2018-2019, but we EXCEEDED expected growth by 3.06 index. We also had a School Report Card grade of a 54, which is one point from moving to a C grade, and that means we are no longer considered a Low Performing School. Once we do this again this year and raise achievement on our subgroups of students, we will be well on our way to our goal of being a top performing school in the district. And with our staff, students, parent and community support, we can do it.
Our first School Improvement Team Meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7am. We would like to have parents join us on this school leadership team to represent the diversity of our school population. If you are interested, please email or call Dr. Burnette directly for explanation and information about how you can do this. We hope to have 5 or more parents on this committee this year to represent different age groups and parts of our community.
Lastly, please mark your calendars for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 26 at 5:30pm. All families will need to come out, find out about this year's curriculum, grading and report cards, homework policies, and how to best communicate with your child's teacher. You will leave knowing what your child will be learning and how they will be engaging in learning this year. So, we need all families to attend.
Thank you Cardinal Nation for all of your support. Please continue to check Class Dojo for school and class updates.
