To all Vikings and the North Forsyth Community,

As you are aware, schools are closed to students for at least the next two weeks.  Because students will be missing so many days of school – and we are not sure when students will return, we want to make sure that they have access to work while they are out.  We hope that this keeps the student on track for earning course credits and working towards graduation.

Teachers will be providing assignments and support using class PowerSchool Learning (PSL) pages.  Students are expected to go to the PSL pages for each of their classes daily while they are out of school.  They are to complete their assignments and submit them using PSL.  Students will be able to send messages to their teachers if they have questions or need help completing the posted assignments.

Below is a checklist of what students need and should know or be able to do.  If you need help with any of these things, please call the helpline at 336-661-3128.

• Students should have a device (laptop, computer, etc.) on which they can access work and complete assignments.
• Students should have internet access
• Students should know how to access and use their school email
• Students should know how to access the PowerSchool Learning pages for each of their classes
• Students should know how to access PowerSchool to see their grades

We ask that you work to stay informed.  Please regularly visit the district webpage, our North Forsyth webpage, and your (or your student’s) PowerSchool Learning page.  

If you do not have a device, such as a computer or a laptop, or if you do not have access to the internet, please contact us as soon as possible at 336-661-4880 or fill out the form at this link https://forms.gle/XybRixPGaPB9w8xj8  We have devices that we can sign out to students.  Parents must sign an agreement form in order to receive a device. 

We need everyone’s help in making sure that students stay on top of their learning.  Students will have to put the Viking Virtues into action.  There will be challenges, and there will be distractions.  Students will need to be disciplined, checking for assignments and working hard to complete them.  They will need to be self-reliant, working more independently, using resources that teachers provide, and asking for help when they need it.  They need to show perseverance, working the entire time we are out, even if it is hard so they can complete their courses.  Thank you for helping us keep students on track.

Finally, I want to say that, while this is going to be a huge challenge.  We are committed to advocating for and serving our students and families.  If there is anything that you need or that we can do (or do better) to support students during this time, please let us know.

A todos los Vikingos y la Comunidad de North Forsyth,

Como ustedes saben, las escuelas estan cerradas para estudiantes por lo menos las proximas dos semanas.  Debido a que los estudiantes van a perder bastantes dias de escuela – y no estamos seguros de cuando los estudiantes volveran, queremos asegurarnos que ellos tengan acceso para trabajar mientras estan afuera. Esperamos que esto mantenga a los estudiantes en camino a ganarse los creditos de curso y trabajo hacia la graduacion.

Los maestros estaran proporcionando tareas y apoyandolos usando las paginas de Aprendizaje de Power School (PSL).  Esperamos que los estudiantes vayan a las paginas del PSL para cada una de las clases que tienen a diario mientras estan fuera de la escuela. Ellos tienen que completar estas asignaciones y someterlas usando PSL. Los estudiantes estaran enviando mensajes a sus maestros si tienen alguna pregunta o necesitan ayuda para completer la asignacion posteada.

En la parte de abajo esta la lista de lo que los estudientes necesitan y deben saber para ser capaces de hacer el trabajo.  Si necesitan ayuda con cualquiera de estas cosas, por favor llame a la linea de ayuda al 336-661-3128.

• Los estudiantes deben tener un dispositivo (laptop o computadora) en el cual pueden accesar al trabajo y completar las tareas.

• Los estudiantes deben de saber como accesar a la pagina del PowerSchool Learning para cada una de sus clases.
• Los estudiantes deben saber como accesar la pagina de PowerSchool para ver sus grados. 

Le pedimos que haga su mas valioso esfuerzo para mantenerse informado.  Por favor visite regularmente la pagina directa del distrito, nuestra pagina web de North Forsyth y la pagina de Aprendizaje de Power School de su nino o la suya.

Si no tienen un dispositivo electronico como una computadora o laptop, o si usted no tiene acceso a la internet, por favor contactenos tan pronto pueda al 336-661-4880 o llene la forma en este enlace https://forms.gle/XybRixPGaPB9w8xj8. Tenemos dispositivos que podemos prestarle a los estudiantes.  Los padres deben de firmar la forma de acuerdo en orden de recibir el dispositivo.

 Necesitamos que todos ayuden a asegurarse que nuestros estudiantes se mantenga al tope de su aprendizaje.  Los estudiantes tendran que poner en accion las Virtudes de un Vikingo.  Habran desafios, y habran distracciones.  Los estudiantes tendran que ser disciplinados, chequiar las asignaciones y trabajar duro para completarlas. Necesitaran ser auto-suficientes y trabajar mas independientemente usando los recursos que los maestros proporcionen y pedir ayuda cuando lo necesiten. Necesitan demostrar perseverancia, trabajar todo el tiempo que estaremos afuera aunque se les haga dificil para que puedan completar sus cursos. Gracias por ayudarnos a mantener nuestros estudiantes enfocados en y el camino.

Finalmente, quisiera decir que mientras esto va a ser un gran desafio, estamos comprometidos a defender y servir a nuestros estudiantes y familias.  Si hay algo que usted necesita o que podemos hacer (o hacerlo mejor) para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes durante este tiempo, por favor dejenos saber.
