     PTSA SPOTLIGHT

WELCOME BACK MUSTANG FAMILIES & COMMUNITY MEMBERS!

    School of Excellence Press Release

    August 15, 2021

    Dear Parents,

Parkland Magnet High School was recently named a 2020-2022 National PTA School of Excellence! National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools that work to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child. As a National PTA School of Excellence, at Parkland Magnet High School, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement. The School of Excellence program provided guidance to assist our school in engaging families in school decision-making, and help our school build inclusive policies related to education, health, safety or the arts.

Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community. Our school has successfully mastered these commitments and we applaud everyone for doing so.

The path to excellence is a journey, not a destination, and we encourage your continued participation toward our goals, as this distinction places our PTA in the running to become a Phoebe Apperson Hearst Award recipient, which recognizes success in integrating family-school partnerships. We are extremely proud of the work that we have done to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.

During a difficult year, we were able to continue to serve our school community through providing mental health kits for students, social emotional items for staff, securing a $5,000 Tik Tok Covid Relief grant, PTSA Student Scholarships, teacher appreciation week gifts for staff, and much more!

Thank you for your commitment to our school community. Thank you for helping us reach this noteworthy milestone for our school and community.

     Sincerely,

    2021-2022 Parkland PTSA Board

    PTSA SPOTLIGHT

Hello everyone! We certainly have missed you all and hope you are safe and well during this most unprecedented time. While we've been away we want you to know that your Parkland PTSA has been working hard to brainstorm how we can still serve and support our school community during this pandemic.

We have 2 Exciting things to share with you!

#1 -We enrolled in the National PTA School of Excellence program this year and were recently recognized for our efforts. See below:

    SOE Certificate

#2  Our PTSA was awarded a $5,000 Phase 1 COVID Relief Grant sponsored by Tik Tok!

This was an exclusive grant opportunity for PTAs enrolled in the School of Excellence program this year.   We are 1 of 540 PTAs who were enrolled to win 1 of the 110 grants available!

We chose to serve our school community in the area of Mental/Social Emotional Support.  We will be putting together as many "Mustang Mental Health Kits" as our funds will allow to be distributed through our school site's Summer Meal program.

If you would like to help us in our efforts by either making a monetary donation so we can purchase more items to fill more kits you may do so through our memberhub site https://parklandhs.memberhub.store . If you would like to donate items or whole kits please email us at parklandmagnetptsa@gmail.com , and we will coordinate how to ensure these items get to our families.  Examples of items are: stress balls, coloring books, arts & crafts supplies, journals, etc.

We will continue to keep you updated on our progress of this new venture through our updated school website page, PTSA newsletter, and social media.  Stay tuned!!
