As school-based administrators, educators, and staff, the Community Engagement team is here to help you as you work to support our students' learning environment, achievement, and outcomes. We hope you will find these resources helpful as we collectively build strong, authentic relationships with families and community partners.
Student success is at the heart of community engagement for WS/FCS. Our goal is to ensure everyone feels welcomed, valued, and inspired to be active partners in student growth and development. When students are engaged - socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically - they become more hopeful about their future. When students and their families have better connections to resources, support, and experiences - in and out of the classroom, and at home - they become more confident and driven to ready themselves for college and a career.

Volunteer Management Systems
WS/FCS currently utilizes the following systems to onboard and manage volunteers:
Fulcrum
Every person who would like to volunteer must complete an online form to register. This only system is utilized by the distrcit to run background and sex offender registry checks. Volunteers obtain a login and at any time can check their clearance status and revise, change, or modify their information.Ident-a-Kid
Each school is equipped with check-in and check-out systems that use Ident-a-Kid to track visitor, student, staff, and volunteer activities. -
Interpretation and Translation Services
WS/FCS offers interpretation and translation services for schools and families. The ESL (English as Second Language) Department has established a request process.
Interpretations
Interpreters bridge languages gap thus allowing people who do not speak the same language to communicate. Use this link to review the process to request interpretation services.
Translations
Translators are able to replace written information from one language with written information in another language. Use this link to review the process to request translation services.
Online Translation Help
While it is true that WS/FCS translation needs are great, there are tools available for school personnel who need to contact parents who speak other languages. The broadest resource base, with hundreds of school-based documents in many languages, is TransAct.com. The school system has a contract with this online company, and its use is free to WS/FCS educators. Use this link to enroll now.
Use your WS/FCS email address as the user name and create a password. Change the language of a document by clicking the orange button that says ENGLISH. -
Educator Warehouse
The Educator Warehouse is a collaboration of Forsyth Educator Partnership, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Council of PTAs and WS/FCS. At this facility teachers 'shop' thousands of donated items for use in their classrooms. Donations come from local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
Located in a pod behind Diggs-Latham Elementary School, the Educators’ Warehouse is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:30 PM on school days and the first and third Saturdays of each month from 9:00 - 11:00 AM from late August through the first of June. Teachers sign up online to visit the Warehouse on a specific day. All classroom teachers are allowed four visits per school-year (once per quarter) and can shop for a designated amount of supplies during each visit. Because we rely on donations, the inventory is always changing!
Contact educatorwarehouse@forsythedpartnership.org for more information or call 336-671-1078.
