Philo-Hill Magnet Academy Renovation/Addition

Edifice LLC is the Construction Manager for the Philo-Hill Middle School Renovation/Addition. Edifice is currently seeking to pre-qualify contractors for subcontractor trade packages.

The project includes the renovation/addition to the existing Philo Hill Magnet Academy in Winston Salem, NC. The existing classroom wing will be demolished with a new classroom wing and kitchen being constructed on the southern portion of the project. Existing areas to remain will be repurposed into new classrooms and spaces. The new classroom wing will be structural steel and brick veneer. The new kitchen area will be load-bearing CMU and brick veneer. Renovated area includes demo of existing glass and frames, finishes, ceilings, and all work above ceiling. Renovated area will include all new sprinkler, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical, new storefront at existing glass locations. Existing flooring is terrazzo in corridors with VCT in classrooms and gym. Current ceilings are 2x2 lay-in ceiling tiles. All new doors will be required. Sitework includes new paving at car entrance and access drive, new pad for new classroom wing and kitchen. The owner is Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Ersoy Brake Appleyard Architects, P.A. is the designer. The site is located at 410 Haverhill Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.

Contractors are invited to pre-qualify for the following Trade Packages (but not limited to): Demolition, Concrete, Stained and Polished Concrete, Masonry, Structural Steel, Casework, Science Casework, Roofing, Doors & Hardware, Glass & Glazing, Drywall, Tile, Acoustical Ceilings and Panels, Flooring, Athletic Flooring, Painting, Lockers, Elevators, Food Service, Window Treatments, Elevator, Fire Suppression, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Sitework, and Landscaping.

All Pre-Qualified bidders are required to seek Minority, Women, Business Enterprises (MWBE) participation. The minimum goal for this project is 10% participation.

Bidders must be properly licensed under all state laws, regulations, and ordinances governing the respective trades and work to be performed. The General Statutes of the State of North Carolina applicable to license requirements, submission of bids, and award of public contracts shall be observed in the receiving of bids and awarding of contracts for the work.

Further information may be required in addition to this pre-qualification statement based on your response. These items may include additional financial statements, proof of applicable licenses, certification status, safety program/policy, drug and alcohol program/policy, additional project experience, and or certificates of insurance. Completing this statement does not guarantee pre-qualification.

The CM and Owner reserve the right to reject any or all pre-qualifications. This project shall include all goals and objectives of the owner. PRE-K CENTERS PROJECT

Omega Construction, Inc. is accepting trade contractor prequalification applications for the WS/FCS Pre-K Centers Project. Omega Construction is Construction Manager. The project will consist of construction of (6) Pre-K classrooms in each of (3) existing elementary schools – Old Town, Griffith and Middle Fork Elementary Schools. The work will be bid in two phases. Phase 1 will bid in March 2018, with work performed Summer 2018. Phase 2 will bid in May 2018, with work performed in Fall/Winter of 2018/19.

The deadline for prequalification submission (application form attached below) is 5:00 PM EST on Monday, February 5, 2018.

Project Name: Wiley Middle School/RJ Reynolds High School Pedestrian Safety and Northwest Boulevard Traffic Improvements
Project Location: Northwest Blvd, Winston Salem, NC 27104

Project Construction Schedule: 5-1-18 to 7-31-18

Project Summary: 

 The project scope of work generally consists of renovations to the existing bus and car parking lots located on the school campus.  Work will also include installation of sidewalks, medians, crosswalks, curb, and fencing along Northwest Blvd from its intersection with Reynolda Road to its intersection with Hawthorne Road.  Milling and re-paving of Northwest Blvd. is also included in the project scope. This project is intended to provide a safer condition for students, staff, and parents of Wiley MS and RJ Reynolds HS.   

The project also features the following items:

1. Grading and improvements to the parking lot(s) on the north side of NWBv across from Wiley MS.  The lot will be continuous from its existing easternmost location to Hawthorne Rd.  This lot will serve as parking for Wiley, as stacking for pick up/drop off, and as one of two bus lots for RJR.  The lot will be paved and striped to reflect the proposed traffic flow.  Entrance and exit will be via one driveway connection to NWBv across from the existing south bus lot.  There will be a gated emergency access driveway connecting to Hawthorne from this lot. 
2. The lot located on the south side of NWBv between RJR Auxiliary Gym and the Wiley Gym will receive slight modifications and will be used for both Wiley and RJR bus parking. 
3. Pedestrian crossing will be limited to two locations on NWBv and will be controlled by fencing.  This fencing will run almost continuously from Hawthorne Rd to Reynolda Rd.  It will be located on the north side of NWBv. 
4. No modifications are intended to the existing curb on either side of NWBv (i.e., existing curb to curb dimension will not be changed).  Additionally, no grade changes will be made to NWBv.  The road will be milled, repaved, and striped from Hawthorne to Reynolda.  There will be no parking from Hawthorne to the existing tunnel under NWBv.  Parking from the tunnel to Reynolda will be on the south side of NWBv only and will be “reverse angle, back in” parking. There will be a median in NWBv from Hawthorne to Reynolda with breaks as needed for traffic control and pedestrian crossing.  This median will “deter” traffic from crossing the centerline, but will not “prevent” it.   
5. Some utility improvements will need to be made and will involve work of both private contractors and public utility contractors.  Contractor will assist WSFCS in coordinating this work. 
6. In addition to the above, work may also include signage removal and installation, landscaping, demolition as needed for traffic improvements (no building demolition anticipated), traffic control, pedestrian crosswalk indicators, etc.

Bid, Performance and Payment Bonds are waived for Trade Packages under $150,000.  If submitting on multiple Trade Packages and the aggregate of the packages meets or exceeds $150,000, a Bid, Payment and Performance Bonds will be required for each Trade Package.

First-Tier Subcontractor Prequalification & MWBE Outreach Meeting

New Atlantic Contracting, Inc / Sterling Construction Services will be accepting 1st tier subcontractor prequalification submittals for the new WS/FCS Lewisville Middle School project, until 5:00PM, October 22, 2019.

There will be two Project Information/ MWBE Outreach Meetings on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 5:30-6:30PM and another one Friday, October 4, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30AM.  These meetings will discuss project scope, schedule, prequalification requirements and MWSBE participation goals. These meetings will both be located at Room 219, WS/FCS Education Building, 4801 Bethania Station Road, Winston-Salem, NC. Bidding is expected to occur in November 2019 and the project is expected to start in February 2020.
