Megan Bakewell Houston
Instructional Facilitator
Welcome to Mrs. Houston's Website!
This is my eleventh year as the Instructional Facilitator at Sedge Garden Elementary. I have five years of teaching experience within Guilford County and Winston Salem-Forsyth County. I taught for two years in third grade, and then I "graduated" and spent three years with fourth graders.
I am a graduate of UNC-Greensboro where I attained my undergraduate degree in elementary education and my master's degree in reading education. I love teaching all subjects, but I especially love being able to sit down and read a good book. What book have you read lately that you could not put down? I received my A.I.G. (academically intellectually gifted) certification through High Point University as well. I learned how to provide various tasks to students based on their unique abilities through differentiating the curriculum and methods of instruction.
I am originally from West Palm Beach, Florida. I moved to North Carolina when I was in the fourth grade. I love visiting my family and friends that live "back home" in Morganton, NC. I am also a graduate of Freedom High School. Go Patriots! :)
Currently, I live in Kernersville with my husband, Zack, our two sons, Zander and Maddox, and our beagle, Burke. I have completed two full marathons and love running in my free time.
