Extended Essay is a major component of the Core for the DP Program.  It involves an independent research project culminating in a 4000-word paper, which is then submitted to the IB for scoring.  A student must score at least a D in order to be awarded the Diploma.  A score of C or better can result in points accumulated towards the 24 required points needed to earn the IB Diploma.  Students typically begin the EE during the Spring of their Junior year and submit during the Fall of their Senior year.
