• Meet our Counselors

    Melinda Vest

I have worked in the counseling field for over 25 years with most of my career working as a School Counselor. Before coming to Clemmons Middle in 2008, I began my career working at Charter Behavioral Health Systems as a Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Care Therapist.  During my 3 years at Charter, I worked with inpatient and outpatient clients and their families needing mental health and substance abuse treatment.  After leaving Charter, I worked for Davidson County Mental Health as a Child and Family Outpatient Therapist before making a slight career change to Yadkin County Schools as a School Counselor in 2000. This is my 14th year at Clemmons Middle and I love being a School Counselor. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Emory and Henry University in Virginia, where I played tennis on the Lady Wasps tennis team. After graduating in 1995, I obtained my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. I later returned to ASU to obtain my School Counseling licensure and have worked in the North Carolina school system ever since. I am married to Brian Vest, a teacher at Morgan Elementary. We have two amazing children, Macy and Kale, and our two dogs, Kacy and Molly. I am excited to be part of the team here at Clemmons Middle and look forward to working with the students, families, and staff.

This is my second year at Clemmons Middle School, but not my first year in a counseling setting.  I used to work with 7th grade girls, delivering a curriculum that sought to increase self-esteem and encourage confidence.  I absolutely love working with middle school-aged students.  I have three children, one son who attends High Point University, and two daughters. One is in 12th grade and the other is in 6th grade.  We also have a puppy named Pinky!!  I look forward to connecting with your students.

    Kelly Crosby

I have been a School Counselor for 28 wonderful years. I have worked at all levels, grades k-12 and enjoyed working with students teaching SEL skill building and planning for their immediate and future goals. I have been married to a wonderful man for 30 years and we have adult children who have attended ECU, UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University.  I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and received my Masters in School Counseling from Lenoir Rhyne University.  I love everything outdoors! Horseback riding, biking, and hiking. I live on High Rock Lake and enjoy kayaking, skiing, fishing and boating.

I am the 7th grade Counselor and look forward to getting to know each student at CMS.
