Hill Arts Magnet Middle SchoolTHE HAMMS BEARS ARE CONTINUING OUR QUEST FOR SUCCESS!
Greetings, HAMMS Parents/Guardians!
From the Principal's Pen....Welcome back to the second semester of our 2009-2010 school year! Parents of Hill Arts Magnet Middle School, we are moving forward and continuing on our Quest for Success! I am excited about all that is in store for the second half of this school year! We've accomplished quite a bit so far with our students. But, we still have plenty of work to do! Let's keep up the momentum and strive for excellent academic achievement during the remainder of the 2009-2010 school year!We are at the end of the 2nd quarter of school and are gearing up for the 2nd End-of-Quarter Test coming up January 19, 2010 - January 22, 2010! Please make sure that your child is at school on time each and everyday prepared to learn and exercise his/her thinking skills. I am expecting all students to show at least ten percentage points of growth on their EOQ Tests and no less than 80% proficiency on the End-of-Grade Tests at the end of the school year! Only with your help will we be able to achieve these goals! Here are just a few of the things that you can do to assist your child and the teachers as we press for success:-
Talk with your child daily about what he/she learned in school.
-
Make sure your child reads at least 20-30 minutes each evening.
-
Check homework and all grades on tests and quizzes.
-
Schedule a time to attend classes with your child so you can know what's happening in the classroom.
-
Schedule a conference with your child's teachers to discuss academic progress and goals.
-
Begin researching and discussing future educational goals with your child (find out what college or universities will he/she attend and what are his/her career interests?)
-
Encourage your child to do his/her best each day in school and make great choices!
Thank you for supporting your child and supporting the school! If we work together, we can achieve more! We always welcome HAMMS friends, family, and community members to share in our daily educational experiences! So, please come out and spend some time with your child at school as often as you can!
At HAMMS we consider ourselves a close knit family who respects and cares for each other so much so that we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and nurturing educational environment where each and every student takes pride in being a HAMMS Bear! Below are our HAMMS Bottom-Line Rules! Please review these with your child so that he/she has a pleasant remainder of the school year. We, as HAMMS Bears, pledge to make sure that our school has:
- NO VIOLENCE
- NO DRUGS
- NO HARRASSMENT/BULLYING
- NO STEALING
- NO VANDALISM
Finally, each of the HAMMS Bears wear a school uniform taking pride in our appearance and our school colors. We assist each other to be successful in all of our classes and commit ourselves to excellence in our teaching and learning! We, the HAMMS Bears, promise to show our Bear Pride in every aspect of our lives!
Best wishes to all of our students, parents, and staff members for a fantastic second semester of the 2009-2010 school year! Come out and join us as our partners as we proceed with our mission!
Go HAMMS Bears!
