• Mr. Garmon  

     
    Mr. Chris Garmon is a graduate of Elkin High School in Elkin, NC, earned his Bachelor of Music from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN, and earned his Master of Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.   While at Indiana Wesleyan, Mr. Garmon received the prestigious Jerald Franks Scholarship award for instrumental music education.   Mr. Garmon has performed musical ensembles including the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, a featured soloist with the Indiana Wesleyan University Wind Ensemble, the Piedmont Wind Symphony, and the Elkin Big Band.  Mr. Garmon is a member of MENC, the Northwest District Bandmasters, and is currently the chairman of the Forsyth County Bandmasters Association.


    Mr. Garmon taught at Surry Central High and Middle Schools from 1996-2000.  While at Surry Central, the bands experienced unusual growth and received numerous superior and excellent ratings at marching and concert band festivals.  In the fall of 2000, Mr. Garmon began his tenure as band director at West Forsyth High School.  During his tenure at West Forsyth, the West Bands grew from 120 members to over 220 members and from one concert band to four groups including the Jazz Ensemble, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble.  The West Forsyth Bands continue to receive numerous superior and excellent rating for marching, concert, and jazz bands.


    Since the Fall of 2009, Mr. Garmon has been the music teacher at the Career Center High School in Winston-Salem, NC.  At the Career Center, Mr. Garmon teachers Advanced Placement Music Theory, Music History, and first and second year Electronic Music Courses. 


    Mr. Garmon resides in Clemmons  with his wife, Doreen, and four boys Daniel, James, Michael, and Aaron.
