    I graduated from Parkland High School in 1983; received my Bachelor's Degree Summa Cum Laude from Wingate College in 1986, and my Master's Degree from Western Governors University in 2005. I am Nationally Board Certified in Early Adolescent Social Studies-History (originally in 1999 and renewed in 2008) and have been teaching eighth grade for twenty-nine years.  I have two children, Christina and Andrew. Christina married Lance Corporal John Benefield on May 26, 2012. They live in Murfreesboro, TN where he attends Middle Tennessee State pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in aviation and she works as a counselor for Branches Counseling Center pursuing licensure; she received her Master's of Education in December 2014 . Andrew currently works for UPS.
