     1.  How much technology skills do I need to take an online course?

    • Students should be able to use a computer keyboard and mouse.
    • Students must have a computer and internet access at school and at home.
    • Students should be able to create, save and print documents.
    • Students should be able to access and navigate the Internet.
    • Students should be able to send and receive email, and attach files.
    • Students do not have to be a "techie" to take an online course.

    2.  Should I have certain study habits to be successful in an online course?

    • Students should have strong reading and comprehension skills.
    • Students should be able to express their thoughts and ideas in writing.
    • Students should be able to monitor their progress, keep up with assignments and meet course deadlines.
    • Students should always practice good "Netiquette" when communicating with other students or instructors.

    3.  How much time do I need to be successful with online courses?

    • Students should be able to devote a significant amount of time to studying and completing assignments.
    • A summer course requires 3 to 5 hours of work per day Monday through Friday. A fall or spring semester course requires 90 minutes of work per day Monday through Friday. A year long course requires 1 hour of work per day Monday through Friday. 
    • Students should check their schedules to make sure they have enough time for an online course.
    • Students should have a personal space for studying free from distractions.
    • Students should have reliable Internet access at home.
    • Students cannot use their phone to complete the assignments in the course.
    • Students cannot use a tablet to complete the assignments in the course.
