We want to share some important information and changes to our phased school reopening plans.
Based on the CDC indicators reviewed last night by our Board of Education’s COVID-19 Special Committee, the district is delaying the return to school for our Pre-K and Exceptional Children (EC) Pre-K students. Those students were scheduled to return to in-person learning on Monday, October 26. The start date for those students will now be delayed for at least two weeks.
All families of our Pre-K and EC Pre-K students were informed of the potential for delay last evening.
We want all families to know that our Board of Education will use its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss a motion set forth by the COVID-19 Committee. That motion asks to delay phased re-entry plans at least two weeks for all Pre-K-12 students. Once any decisions are made, we will share more information on how that impacts our families. The motion does not call for changing the dates WS/FCS staff members report back to school.
It is important to note that the special called meeting of the Board for Thursday, October 22 has been cancelled.
We know our students and families are following our phased reopening plans closely and we are working hard to be responsive to the evolving challenges of COVID-19. Please know you can look at the latest CDC indicators updated by the Forsyth County Department of Public Health on Tuesdays on the Our Safe Return website. Our commitment is to a safe return for our students and staff.
We are grateful to our community for your support and understanding as we navigate these difficult and changing times together. Thank you and have a great evening.
