My name is Brett Ashcraft Pesce (pronounced "Pesh") and I'm happy to be part of the Meadowlark Elementary family!  I love working with children and families and I look forward to meeting you and your family.  Let me know if you have any questions and I will be glad to assist you!

I have been a counselor for 25 years at various agencies and schools: The Children's Home, CenterPoint (Forsyth-Stokes Mental Health), Salem College, Cook Elementary, Gibson Elementary, and now at Meadowlark Elementary. At Salem College I counseled and advised adults returning to college as the Assistant Dean in Continuing Studies.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Salem College and my community/agency counseling master's degree from Eastern Kentucky University. A few years later, I took graduate school  coursework in family therapy, diagnoses, and counseling from UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC-Greensboro.  My graduate program in school counseling was completed at N.C. A&T State University.

In regard to family work, I have completed the required family therapy training, family therapy supervision hours (with Dr. John Edwards, A.A.M.F.T. supervisor), and family therapy observation (live and videotaped) portions of the requirements for certification by the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (A.A.M.F.T.).
I am licensed by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors (since December 1995, license #2206).  I am also a member of the North Carolina School Counselors Association (since 2001).
I am married and have two busy daughters, one in high school and one in college. In my spare time, I enjoy reading biographies, learning about history, traveling, gardening, and watching old movies and television shows.
