Homework will be given Monday through Thursday and will consist of Math, Reading, and Spelling/Vocabulary. Occasionally, students will have Science/Social Studies homework.
The 1-inch, 3-ring binder on the supply list will be used as a homework binder that will come home daily. This binder with its contents will be an essential tool for organization, assignments, and communication, and therefore should be returned to school each morning. All homework assignments will be recorded by students in an agenda provided by PTA. This agenda should always be in the binder. In addition, I am providing students with a vinyl pocket divider for their binder that should be used for loose homework on one side and their reading material on the other side. Another necessity for the binder is looseleaf notebook paper for students to use as they are completing homework. Please be sure to replenish this as needed throughout the year.
Parents do need to sign the agenda each night at the bottom of the specific day to acknowledge that your child has practiced reading to an adult for the assigned amount of time as well as completed the remainder of the homework. I will check for your signature each day and any other notes that you may have written in the agenda.Friday folders will be used again this year, and they need to be returned each Monday or the next school day if we are not returning on a Monday. Please make sure you look through it carefully for any announcements or information you may need and then sign it beside the relevant date on the front signature sheet. This is another great communication tool between school and home.If you have any questions, please e-mail me at the school e-mail address above, and I will respond as soon as possible. If you have an e-mail address and you have not already shared it with me, please make sure that I receive it so that you may get any informational e-mails that may need to be sent out. Also, with our phone system, you can call the school and leave a message that will appear on my classroom phone. I will check and return calls at the end of the day if possible.Through Parent Assist, you will be able to check on your child's grades and progress throughout the year. You will not receive any hard copies of interim reports since you have continuous access to grades. If you are not familiar with Parent Assist or have forgotten your password, please check with Vicky True in the office. She will be glad to assist you.
