Every night your child will have spelling, math, and reading for homework. In my class, homework is used as a tool for me to see how well they understand the concepts taught. No child will receive homework that he/she is not thoroughly prepared for, and it should be used as a reinforcement of previously studied concepts. Homework should not exceed 45 minutes a night.
Day 1- ALL words 3x each
Days 2-5- I will choose from the following:
Create a story using at least 10 spelling words (Two night process)
Take home test to practice
Day 5- Spelling Test!
We do a math review every week. On Monday, each child will get a sheet that has Math for the week. Each night that section only is to be completed.
Every child needs to be reading at least 30 minutes a night. This build fluency, comprehension, and enjoyment of reading. Your child is expected to read 30 minutes a night. Some nights they may have a worksheet or a book that I assign them to read. As the year progresses, so will the amount of independent reading.
